Brett Favre is a New York Jet

2008 August 7

Maybe this balances out my frustrating Vista-powered laptop.

Man, I used to love Brett Favre as a kid. And now he’s on the Jets and I’m not nearly as excited as I should be, or at least thought I would be. All this drama has really worn me down. But at least Deadspin supplemented it all with pictures of Favre that also included Rachel Nichols.

I’ve always liked Pennington, but he has one of the worst arms I have ever seen on a starting QB. Clemens I haven’t even watched enough to judge. I’ve never been a huge football fan — I maybe watch a few full games a year — but maybe this year I’ll put a little more effort in, considering one of my favorite all-time players is on my team now. Even if he’s old, and a douche, he’s still a major step-up from either Pennington or Clemens. I think. I hope.

I have no jokes or deep insights to add. This post sucks. I just needed to post about Favre coming to the Jets. SLINGIN’ AND SLANGIN’! HE’S JUST HAVIN’ FUN OUT THERE! The Jets will most likely still suck, but at least the games will be entertaining!

I was a huge Favre fan growing up but this is just sad. I don’t know what’s worse – Favre’s childish, selfish behavior or the media’s inability to call him on it. It’ll be very interesting to see what happens in camp. Is he going to take the time to learn the playbook or will he sit out and expect the job to be given to him?

Dear Lord Brady please give your spirit to Clemens this summer. I would die a happy man to see Favre losing the starting QB competition

I like Brett Favre and respect his decision to continue playing with the hapless Jets. However, Brett Favre has no idea what he has gotten himself into. The New York media is NOTHING like the Green Bay media which treated him like a legend and icon for many years. A few bad games (and there will be many of those) the media will be in his grill and poor Brett will quickly question WHY he came out of retirement. Good luck Brett!
