“Due to irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences, I am permanently leaving the band Audioslave,” Cornell said. “I wish the other three members nothing but the best in all of their future endeavors.”

Well, that pretty much wraps it up for Audioslave. They were getting pretty stale anyway. It’s weird, because I feel the third album is better than the second, but I listened to it even less. They should’ve just been a one album band, like Temple of the Dog. The debut is still a damn great album, but churning out the same shit on two more albums depreciated its value a bit. There are still some gems on the last two albums though.

So it’s anyone’s guess what happens next. Cornell is coming out with his second solo album, “Carry On” on May 1st, and Rage Against the Machine is getting back together for a concert in LA. Maybe that will lead to a true reunion, but I doubt it. I just pray Cornell’s solo album is better than his first effort. The Bond theme song he made was pretty awesome, so I have some hope.
