K-Rock is Back!
Â
Just in time for Memorial Day Weekend! And THANK GOD. It seems that in the past two years, rock has all but disappeared from the airwaves on Long Island. First, “K-Rock” changed to “Free FM,” a talk radio station. Then “The Bone” was just gone one day. Then the upstart “Radio X” out of nowhere started to air ambient music. What the hell happened? All we were left with was a couple of radio stations each claiming to be the only place to listen to classic rock on Long Island and the same 50 songs played over and over again. THERE ARE OTHER ZEPPELIN/WHO/FLOYD/STONES SONGS!!!
With the return of 92.3 K-Rock, I might once again just listen to the FM band if I don’t feel like bringing my iPod into the car. According to this news release, it seems like they’re going to keep the same mix of classic and newer rock they had on the weekends when they actually played music. For Memorial Day weekend, there’s not going to be any DJs, so it’s just going to be glorious rock. I might just need to bring a radio to the beach to celebrate the occasion.
