My theory with this Mets team in particular is that the team has been so top-heavy that it lives and dies with its stars (Wright/Reyes/Beltran), which magnifies every disappointment with regards to them. Instead of blaming the pitiful supporting cast around them, people are quicker to blame the guys who are supposed to "lead" the team to victory. I think it helps explain Wright - you always hear about a player who tries to do too much, but never about a team (and a fanbase) who asks too much. I felt the same way about Danny Tartabull back in 1987. Now I just realized that was 24 years ago and it's depressing me.
