This is probably the best TV-related news I’ve heard in years. If you haven’t heard about it yet (even though it’s been talked about since Band of Brothers was aired), The Pacific has been rumored to be in the works for years as the Pacific War equivalent to Band of Brothers. Not until now has it been official. It’s going to spearheaded by the same executive producers as Band of Brothers – Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman. I’ve been waiting for confirmation on this project for a long while and I started to think it was never going to happen. It’s going to be interesting to see if The Pacific can live up to its spiritual predecessor, as Band of Brothers is the greatest TV mini-series ever, and one of the greatest war stories ever put on film. Honestly, if you haven’t seen it, you should just go out and buy the DVD set right now.
